CVS Health has launched an end-to-end digital primary care platform, which interlinks CVS Health’s services with clinical expertise and data to improve coordination and customer healthcare experiences. The platform also allows users to select where they receive their care—virtually or in person in a community setting or at home.
The offering will be available to fully insured members and self-funded members of Aetna as well as CVS Caremark clients with immediate effect. Other eligible Aetna members and CVS Caremark members will have access from January 2023 and the second quarter of 2023, respectively.
The platform provides access to primary care, on-demand care, chronic condition management, and mental health services virtually. The platform can also recommend specialists within the network on an as-needed basis. The platform will use an interoperable electronic health record system for a smoother workflow.
Users have the choice to select their own care team that would be led by physicians. This care team would be composed of nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and vocational nurses, all of whom can be accessed through the platform. CVS pharmacist consultations are also offered for medication management options.
