Babylon Micro-Farms, a Virginia-based company producing 15 sq ft portable indoor farms, has announced the launch of a new Micro-Farm called the “Galleri.”
Galleri has new and improved features, such as an improved sensor array, a new algae mitigation and water temperature control system, in addition to the existing system of sensors, lights, cameras, and irrigation systems to automate the entire growing process. The new farm system is also stated to reduce plastic usage by 55%, has 33% lower harvest and cleaning times, and 100% compostable harvest scraps.
Customers will have access to automated remote management and a digital support library via an app that provides alerts and step-by-step instructions as well as videos on planting, transplanting, and harvesting. Customers will also receive a “BabylonBox,” which contains seeds, nutrients, and other grow supplies every month as part of their subscription plan.
As of date, Babylon has installed more than 80 farms across the US and plans to install over 100 more in the future. Some of the company’s key customers include Aramark, LinkedIn, Compass, and Sodexo.
