PatSnap, an AI patent intelligence platform based between Singapore and the UK, has raised USD 300 million in a Series E funding round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Tencent Investment, with participation from CITIC Industrial Fund, Sequoia China, and Vertex Ventures. This brings the company’s total funds raised to USD 351.6 million, with its valuation reportedly crossing USD 1 billion.
The proceeds will be used to further develop the company’s intelligence platform, accelerate software product development, and expand the global sales team.
Founded in 2007, PatSnap operates a software platform that uses AI to combine millions of data points from patents, licensing, litigation, and other sources to provide intelligence that helps companies streamline R&D. The company’s products can be used across various sectors and its life science-focused product, PatSnap Bio, allows pharmaceutical companies to search for protein, DNA, and RNA sequences within patent and non-patent sources to improve their R&D process.
