Nala Robotics introduces pizza-making robot ‘Pizzaiola’

Product updates

 • Nala Robotics, an AI-powered multi-cuisine robotic restaurant, has unveiled “Pizzaiola,” a fully automated modular robotic chef that is primarily pitched toward pizza making. The menu can also be expanded to include pasta, salads, burgers, wings, etc.

 • The 7-axis robot with a robotic arm for food handling takes up about 144 sq ft and is equipped with natural language processing and machine learning capabilities. It can cook up to 50 8–18-inch pizzas an hour, customized using five dough types, four types of sauces, and 35 varieties of toppings and cheeses.

 • Its modular nature facilitates restauranteurs to choose from a range of pizza ovens such as traditional, conveyor-style, and brick, and to add other appliances such as fryers, grills as well as pasta and salad stations to configure the unit to make other food items.

 • The unit is available for leasing for a monthly fee starting at USD 7,000.

Analyst QuickTake : Its peer startup Picnic also offers a pizza-making robot that can also be configured to assemble other food items like sandwiches, salad bowls, tacos, and burritos. However, the unit is offered for a monthly subscription fee of USD 3,500–4,500—a comparatively lower price potentially due to the use of a conveyor belt and canister-based system as opposed to more expensive robotic arm systems.
