Remilk, the Israel-based producer of alternative dairy using microbial fermentation has obtained self-affirmed Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) status in line with FDA requirements, which allows the company sale of its products within the US.
GRAS status enables the company to sell its products to consumer packaged goods companies (CPGs) with sales expected in the coming quarters, as it indicates that its products are now considered safe for consumption in food and beverages and can thus be used for the production of animal-free variation of popular dairy products such as ice cream, yogurt, and cream cheese.
Following US regulatory approval, Remilk indicated that it is actively pursuing regulatory approval in other countries to make products available globally.
