Badger Technologies, an autonomous inventory robots developer, has announced the launch of a pilot program to conduct floor inspections and inventory management with US chain Vallarta Supermarkets.
As a part of the pilot, multiple robots will be deployed at five Vallarta Supermarkets in Fresno, Kern, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino to identify hazards and keep the floors clean. The robots will detect hazards like liquid spills, powders, or food and send an alert to the relevant systems.
An inventory management robot will be piloted in a separate location to improve product availability by automatically detecting out-of-stock situations.
Badger Technologies is the robotics investment arm of Jabil Inc., which develops a shelf scanning and hazard detection autonomous robot to detect out-of-stock situations and price discrepancies. Around 600 Badger robots are currently deployed throughout the US and Australia.
