Hyzon to acquire ORTEN Betriebs and ORTEN Electric Trucks to expand in Germany

M&A

  • Hyzon Motors (Hyzon), a developer of commercial hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), has announced plans to acquire German manufacturer of innovative truck and trailer bodies for the beverage industry ORTEN Betriebs GmbH (and subsidiaries) as well as ORTEN Electric Trucks GmbH to expand operations in Germany. The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2022.

  • With the acquisition, Hyzon aims to establish its operational footprint in Germany by expanding electrification and powertrain kit expertise and assembly capacity. It also aims to acquire new German customers, utilizing ORTEN’s long-standing customer relationships across the country.

  • Three fully-operational ORTEN production facilities will come under Hyzon after the acquisition. More than 80 ORTEN employees that are experienced in electrification, retrofitting, and bodybuilding will also be a part of Hyzon.
