ProteinDistillery, a Germany-based biotech startup developing vegan alternatives for animal foods has launched what it claims to be the first fully customizable vegan protein capable of replacing all functionalities of animal protein. The alternative protein is made using upcycled brewer’s yeast, which is readily available in Germany due to its substantial beer industry.
The company further claims its microorganism-derived protein does not require the addition of fillers or stabilizers such as methylcellulose and offers various applications across the alternative protein sector including dairy, milk, and egg alternatives. ProteinDistillery intends to use the B2B model and supply the vegan protein to manufacturers.
