NextFerm Technologies, an Israel-based food tech company specializing in fermentation-derived food supplements, has announced the commercial production of its yeast-based vegan protein, ProteVin. The announcement comes just as its Canadian facility’s commissioning period nears its end. In the coming weeks, the company expects to supply the alternative protein to food and supplement producers.
According to NextFerm, the neutral-tasting alternative protein is produced using non-GMO yeast and contains a rich amino acid composition similar to its animal counterpart in addition to having a high digestibility factor (PDCAST=1). The company further claims ProteVin can be used in various alternative protein applications including plant-based meats and dairy and sports and nutrition products.
NextFerm Technologies, was founded in 2013 and engages in the production of microorganism-based nutrition for supplements, foods, and animal feed. The company utilizes a non-GMO proprietary technology for the development of its products. NextFerm is listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange after its IPO in January 2021 at a valuation of USD 35.2 million.
