Revolut launches payment terminal reader for in-person payments in the UK and Ireland

Product updates

  • Revolut, a London-based neobank, has launched Revolut Reader, its first hardware product for reading debit and credit cards for in-person payments in the UK and Ireland.

  • To use the payment terminal, a customer must open a merchant account with Revolut Business, which allows them to accept, settle, and store payments in a single account. Revolut charges GBP/EUR 0.02 + 0.8% per transaction and a one-off cost or customized pricing for high-volume businesses.

  • Revolut Reader can also be adapted to different POS systems in use within organizations that use an SDK or API solution. In the future, Revolut intends to offer a POS solution to help integrate Revolut Reader into incompatible POS systems.
