Sunfire supplies 30 MW electrolyzer to Uniper

Partnerships

 • Two German companies, Sunfire – an electrolyzer developer and Uniper – an energy supplier, have joined forces to deploy a 30-megawatt pressurized alkaline electrolyzer at Uniper’s Bad Lauchstädt energy park and green hydrogen project in central Germany.

 • Sunfire’s 30-megawatt electrolyzer will be powered by a nearby wind farm to produce green hydrogen with renewable electricity. As the second phase the hydrogen produced will be stored in salt caverns. Afterwards, the hydrogen will be fed into local chemical industries’ hydrogen network via a repurposed gas pipeline.

Analyst QuickTake: Previously in March 2022 , Sunfire entered into an agreement with MPREIS, an Austrian supermarket chain, to supply green hydrogen for food production. The hydrogen will be produced at Sunfire’s 3.2 MW green hydrogen production facility in Vols, Austria.
