• Deel, a payroll and compliance platform that facilitates international employment, has acquired Legalpad, a Seattle-based startup assisting companies with work visa applications. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Legalpad’s 70-person team will stay aboard through the acquisition.

• Founded in 2018, Legalpad provides US-based businesses with the legal support to hire workers from other countries and mitigate immigration barriers. The company uses smart software to automate the paperwork needed for work visa applications and provides dedicated independent attorneys to assist with any legal requirements related to the process. To date, Legalpad has helped thousands of employees to relocate to the US.

• The company plans to integrate Legalpad’s team and software to improve its in-house capabilities. Deel also intends to expand the service to countries such as France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Singapore, starting with Canada.
