SMATS, a Canada-based mobility data provider, announced that it has entered into a partnership with smart mobility solutions provider Smart City NZ to bring AI-powered traffic data solutions to transportation officials in New Zealand.
The solution is expected to combine SMATS traffic data collection technology “TrafficXhub” with smartmicro’s (a developer of traffic management sensors) devices to provide integrated data and analytics powered by SMATS cloud-based traffic data analytics solution iNode. TrafficXhub measures the travel time through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals from smart devices, while smartmicro sensors provide traffic count detection, speed, and metrics to classify objects.
Analyst QuickTake: The use of smartmicro sensors builds on SMATS’ integration with radar-based sensor technology provider smartmicro in June 2021 to enhance its data-gathering capabilities. It was also revealed that smartmicro sensors provide significant cost savings compared to underground or camera detection tools, in the form of user-friendliness, high definition detection, 4D measurement, and maintenance-free usage.
