Nerdy acquires coding education startup Codeverse to expand its product offering

M&A

  • Nerdy, developer of the Varsity Tutors online tutoring platform, announced that it has acquired Codeverse, a coding educational startup for children aged 6+.

<ul><li>This acquisition is expected to strengthen Nerdy’s Varsity Tutors platform with the addition of Codeverse’s immersive coding classes. The solution will be available as part of the Learning Membership from Varsity Tutors. Additionally, it will be available via the Varsity Tutors for Schools product suite.</ul>

  • Codeverse offers an interactive coding platform—“Codeverse Studio”—which includes a real programming language and game creation tools for young learners. The platform offers personalized sessions led by vetted Codeverse Guides; it also includes group virtual classes, live streams, and global coding events.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Codeverse stated that it had hosted a StarCourse on the Varsity Tutors platform earlier this year, which revealed that 40% of the participants went on to create a Codeverse account and build their own game. Consequently, the integration allows the company to accelerate demand for its solutions by leveraging Nerdy’s market presence.
