The state of Montana has approved 3D-printed walls to be used as a replacement for concrete walls.
The approval was granted after contractor Tim Stark based in Billings, Montana filed for approval using specifications developed by 3D printed housing provider Apis Cor. The specifications were tested by an independent third-party lab.
Stark will use Apis Cor’s technology in Montana for a housing development project aiming to cut the cost of production by around 30% compared to traditionally-built homes while speeding-up production.

Analyst QuickTake: Apis Cor previously launched an affordable housing cooperative program with several partners to begin construction of affordable 3D printed houses in 2023. The 3D printed housing industry operates with a handful of companies that have been trialing the technology for several years. The industry appears to be progressing with more companies now involved in 3D printed community projects.
