Meta has announced that its latest VR headset will be released in October 2022 at the company’s annual Connect conference. The headset, which is likely the final consumer version of the high-end VR headset codenamed “Project Cambria” revealed in 2021, will be the sequel to Meta’s VR headset Oculus 2.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed that the new VR headset will focus on social presence and has features such as eye tracking, face tracking, and a high-resolution color screen. The headset reportedly can capture users’ facial expressions and replicate them in real-time on their avatars in virtual environments. Mark Zuckerberg also noted that despite Meta’s AR glasses being a few years away from release, the headset launching in October 2022 will include some mixed reality features.
