Nutropy, a France-based startup focusing on the production of animal-free dairy and milk components, has raised EUR 2 million (~ USD 2 million) in a pre-seed round of funding co-led by Beast, Trellis Road, and Big Idea Ventures with participation from VegCapital, FoodHack, Techmind, and the French Government.
The company expects to use the funding to launch its animal-free cheese on an industrial scale within 24 months.
Nutropy, a startup coming from the Big Idea Ventures’ 2022 incubator cohort, uses precision fermentation for the production of animal-free casein in addition to developing animal-free dairy fatty acids. The company combines the above ingredients with cheese cultures to create dairy-free cheese, which they claim is very similar to premium real cheese.
