Grasshopper, a neobank that serves small and medium-sized businesses, announced that it achieved preferred lender program (PLP) delegated authority status by the US Small Business Administration (SBA), a US government agency that supports small businesses connecting with lenders for financing requirements.
The preferred lender status allows Grasshopper to remove documentation hurdles, which significantly cuts down the time required to close a transaction, previously spanning multiple weeks.
Grasshopper's SBA financing program is available across all industries and operates nationwide, providing loan options for both real estate and non-real estate transactions.
The SBA established the PLP to streamline procedures and for quick processing of applications. Lenders with preferred status have broad authority to make and service SBA-guaranteed loans and can use their underwriting and servicing policies.
