Standing Ovation raises EUR 12 million in Series A funding round

Funding

  • Standing Ovation, a French startup developing animal-free casein and cheese substitutes, has raised EUR 12 million (~USD 12 million) in an oversubscribed Series A funding round led by Astanor Ventures, along with the participation of Peakbridge, Seventure Partners, Big Idea Ventures, Good Startup, and an undisclosed leading player in the food sector.

  • The funds raised are expected to be used for further development and perfecting its products and regulatory processes as well as scaling up its casein production to meet industrial demand.

  • Standing Ovation, founded in 2021, uses microbial fermentation to create dairy proteins free of animal products and lactose that can be used as substitutes in cheese and dairy production, with a focus on fresh and soft cheese. The company has stated the casein developed through their production process can be used with products of vegetal or mineral origin to create replicas of conventional cheese products.
