Pico Interactive (Pico), a VR headset maker owned by ByteDance (the parent company of TikTok), announced its new generation of VR headsets Pico 4 and Pico 4 Pro. The headsets will launch in October 2022 in Europe and some selected Asian regions with hopes of competing directly with Meta’s Quest 2.
The new headsets will have a field of view of 105 diagonal degrees (vs Quest 2’s 90 diagonal degrees), with 6DoF touch-sensitive controllers, and a weight of 295g without the batteries. The redesigned Pico 4 controllers will include tracking ring twists and a haptic system.
Further, the operating system has also been updated. It includes an improved avatar system, voice-operated lip-syncing, a special toolkit for creating and sharing VR content, and a new fitness app. The Pico 4 headset will be priced at EUR 429 (~USD 415).
