Rubicon, a Georgia-based startup that connects local waste haulers and recycling businesses with customers, has partnered with Mars, a multinational confectionery manufacturer, to launch specially designed recyclable trick-or-treating bags throughout October for the celebrators of Halloween.
Customers can use the bags to fill them with waste wrappers from consumed candies and return them for recycling. The bags come with a prepaid postage stamp and a set of instructions on how to return the bags for recycling. Collected bags are then fully recycled for future use. The bags are available to order online and via select communities.
The launch of the bags is part of Rubicon’s existing Trick-or-Trash campaign where the company offers wrapper recycling boxes to customers to tackle wrapper waste.
Analyst QuickTake : Rubicon’s Trick or Trash 2022 campaign is in the fourth consecutive year running, which was launched to reduce waste generated during Halloween every year. The company has primarily focused on expanding its waste monitoring solutions providing them across brands such as Seven Eleven, Sweet Green, Wegman, David’s Bridal, Walmart, Starbucks, and FedEx. During the height of the pandemic, Rubicon also launched “PPE Second Life Solution” a program for the collection of discarded personal protective equipment (PPE) from businesses.
