California-based space launch companies Virgin Orbit and Rocket Lab announced that each company is getting ready for its inaugural launches from a country where they have not launched previously, in an effort to expand their launch capabilities.
Virgin Orbit will launch its Launcher One from the UK, while Rocket Lab’s Electron is set to launch from Launch Complex 2(LC-2) at Wallops Island, Virginia.
Virgin Orbit’s manifest includes payloads from the UK, Poland, and the first-ever cubesat from Oman with the launch planned for November 2022, and Rocket Lab is set to deploy RF satellites to HawkEye 360–the first of a three launch deal–in December 2022.
