Product updates

  • Pony.ai, a China and US-based self-driving vehicle technology company, entered into a strategic partnership with Chinese LiDAR sensors manufacturer RoboSense to jointly develop customized LiDAR products for mass-produced autonomous passenger cars and trucks.

  • Product development will be based on RoboSense's second-generation solid-state RS-LiDAR-M1 platform.

  • The two companies also plan to extend their collaboration to explore more applications in the fields of intelligent vehicles and smart cities.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Pony.ai also has a May 2021 partnership with US-based LiDAR supplier Luminar Technologies to obtain the latter’s LiDAR solutions for its robotaxis. These developments suggest how essential LiDAR sensors are for the future of autonomous vehicles in general.
