Remote patient monitoring provider BioIntelliSense announced its acquisition of patient monitoring platform AlertWatch for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition was carried out to expand BioIntelliSense’s remote patient monitoring offerings. The terms of the deal were not publicly disclosed.
BioIntelliSense plans to incorporate AlertWatch into its “BioButton'' remote patient wearable, and as a part of BioIntelliSense’s partnership with Medtronic , AlertWatch will be distributed to US hospitals using Medtronic’s remote patient monitoring solutions. Both BioIntelliSense’s and AlertWatch’s systems are interoperable and can be easily integrated with healthcare providers’ existing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
BioIntelliSense is a manufacturer of remote patient monitoring technology solutions. Its primary device, the “BioButton,” is a continuous patient monitoring device that captures the vital signs of patients for 60 days to record temperature, respiratory rate, and heart rate at rest.
AlertWatch is a developer of several FDA-approved patient monitoring platforms. The company’s platforms collect and present patient data and provide analytics and alerts to assist with treatment decisions. The company has received four FDA 501(k) clearances for its platforms used in operating rooms, intensive care units, and labor and delivery units respectively. AlertWatch’s systems have been used in over one million surgeries and over 25,000 births.
