Nubank, a Brazil-based neobank, announced that it plans to launch its cryptocurrency–Nucoin–as part of its new rewards program in the first half of 2023.
The token will be distributed free of charge to customers and is built on the layer-2 scaling network Polygon . The bank plans to invite around 2,000 customers over the coming months to test the feature and provide feedback.
Analyst QuickTake: The decision to introduce its cryptocurrency follows the successful debut of its cryptocurrency trading platform , which garnered one million users in less than a month after its launch in June this year. Furthermore, the option to earn rewards in cryptocurrencies is a unique feature only provided by a few neobanks in the industry, such as Juno , and could be a key differentiator as users become aware and more familiar with cryptocurrencies.
