Sierra Space partner with IBM for next-generation space technology and software platforms

Partnerships

  • Colorado-based independent commercial space startup Sierra Space, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global technology company IBM, to collaborate on space technology and software platforms for Sierra Space’s entire range of spacecraft and infrastructure.

  • As outlined in the MoU, the companies will leverage IBM’s data analysis and collection technology to aid Sierra Space astronauts’ tasks and workloads in addition to building a seamless hybrid space platform to drive mission operations along with the development of new applications aimed at commerce.

  • According to the company, the IBM platform would enable Sierra Space to automate business operations to generate actionable insights, enhance customer experience, and deliver zero-touch operations.

  • The collaboration is also expected to deliver a single, unified computing environment allowing users to build and modernize applications, make data AI-ready, and integrate and implement workloads with ease.
