Colorado-based independent commercial space startup Sierra Space, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global technology company IBM, to collaborate on space technology and software platforms for Sierra Space’s entire range of spacecraft and infrastructure.
As outlined in the MoU, the companies will leverage IBM’s data analysis and collection technology to aid Sierra Space astronauts’ tasks and workloads in addition to building a seamless hybrid space platform to drive mission operations along with the development of new applications aimed at commerce.
According to the company, the IBM platform would enable Sierra Space to automate business operations to generate actionable insights, enhance customer experience, and deliver zero-touch operations.
The collaboration is also expected to deliver a single, unified computing environment allowing users to build and modernize applications, make data AI-ready, and integrate and implement workloads with ease.
