Israeli plant-based cheese producer Vgarden has partnered with Israeli plant-based ingredient development company Brevel to develop a new category of high-protein microalgae-based cheese products.
Brevel will provide its microalgae protein–made using sugar-based microalgae fermentation with a high concentration of light at industrial levels–allowing Vgarden to develop a high-protein plant-based cheese alternative that the company claims has no aftertaste.
According to Brevel, its production technique results in a color and flavor-neutral protein with production costs similar to that of pea and soy-based proteins.
Vgarden expects to launch the new cheese product by 2023 in Australia, the US, the UK, Western Europe, and other regions.
