Nikola and KeyState collaborate on hydrogen supply

Partnerships

  • Nikola Motor Company (Nikola), a NASDAQ-listed developer of heavy-duty battery electric vehicles (BEV) and fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEV), collaborated with KeyState Natural Gas Synthesis (KeyState), a green hydrogen producer to deploy Pennsylvania’s first low-carbon hydrogen production value chain.

  • As part of the partnership, the two companies will also work on a definitive agreement to expand the hydrogen supply for Nikola’s FCEVs. Under the agreement, KeyState will supply up to 100 metric tons of hydrogen per day, to fuel 2,500 Nikola Tre FCEVs, displacing over 51 million gallons of diesel per annum.

  • KeyState’s 7,000+ acre facility is expected to be operational in 2026 and will store CO2 associated with hydrogen production. KeyState will also produce ammonia and urea for industrial and transportation markets.
