Blue Origin delivers BE-4 rocket engines for the first ULA Vulcan launch

Product updates

  • Blue Origin, a Washington-based space travel and space launch company founded by Jeff Bezos, completed the delivery of two BE-4 rocket engines that will be used on the Vulcan Centaur Rocket of the United Launch Alliance ahead of its first launch slated for 2023.

  • Blue Origin and ULA have been working on the BE-4 engines since 2014, but delays in development and testing led to the engines being delivered two years later than scheduled.

  • The BE-4 engines, powered by liquified natural gas and providing 550,000 pounds of thrust, will not only be used on the first stage booster of the Vulcan but in Blue Origin’s orbital class New Glenn rocket as well-–also slated for launch in 2023.
