California-based space travel and space launch company Rocket Lab announced the start of operations for testing its Archimedes engine with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.
The test complex is situated across a 1 million sq foot area of land at the Stennis Space Center’s A complex and uses the existing infrastructure of the A-3 test stand to develop and test 165,000 pound-foot engines to be used in the company’s reusable Neutron rocket.
The new test stand will complement the Neutron production complex and launch site in Wallops Island which is under construction and is slated to create dozens of new jobs and make significant capital investments in the state of Mississippi.
