Califia Farms, a California-based producer of animal-free nut-based dairy products, has announced the launch of Heavy Whip, a dairy-free whipping cream ideal for whipping, cooking, and baking which the company claims is a one-to-one substitution for its traditional counterpart.
The product is made using a coconut oil base along with other simple plant-based ingredients and is non-GMO certified while also being kosher and vegan. According to the company it can be used for sweet or savory dishes ranging from soups and salad dressings to desserts and toppings.
Along with the launch of Heavy Whip, the company has launched a digital recipe cookbook–"Comfort Kitchen: A dairy-free & plant-based recipe collection”–in collaboration with celebrity chef Carla Hall which showcases Califia Farms' entire product portfolio.
Heavy Whip is available for purchase from retailers nationwide including Sprouts and Whole Foods at a price of USD 4.89 for a 16.9 oz carton which is ~70% more expensive than great value traditional heavy whipping cream found at Walmart.
