Macrometa, a platform to build and run databases, apps, and APIs at the edge, has received an undisclosed amount of funding led by Akamai with participation from Shasta Ventures and 60 Degree Capital.
Along with the funding, Macrometa has also entered into a partnership with Akamai, through which the companies are integrating three infrastructure solutions into one platform: 1) Akamai’s edge network 2) Linode cloud hosting service and 3) Macrometa’s Global Data Network (GDN) and edge platform. Accordingly, developers can build apps and APIs on Macrometa and deploy them on Akamai.
The newly raised funds will be invested in developer education, community development, event marketing, and joint customer sales (with Akamai).
