Renaissance Textile, a France-based textile recycling startup, started up France's first complete industrial end-of-life textiles recycling line, delivered, installed, and commissioned by ANDRITZ Laroche, part of the international technology group ANDRITZ, a supplier of innovative plants, equipment, systems, services, and digital solutions.
The newly built 12,000 sqm plant, consisting of ANDRITZ textile recycling equipment is fitted with a complete tearing line uniquely designed as a result of joint efforts of R&D specialists and customized trials conducted in collaboration between the two parties at the ANDRITZ technical center in Cours, France.
The project aims to produce new fibers from the collected post-consumer textiles, which will be used to weave new recycled fabrics. The recycling line will allow Renaissance Textile to recycle 3,000 tons of fabric annually, which equates to 10 million pieces of clothing. The company also plans to open two more additional lines by the end of 2023 and 2025, in order to expand the selection of recycled textiles to include new colors and fibers.
Founded in 2021, Renaissance Textile offers a value-creating textile recycling service on an industrial scale to ultimately produce secondary raw materials—yarn and then fabric—for new textile garments. The company claims to be opening a new life cycle for end-of-life textiles through its trademark process Circular Textile®.
