Freight Farms, a Boston-based company offering hydroponic shipping container vertical farms, has raised USD 17.5 million in their third Series B funding round co-led by Aliaxis SA and Ospraie Ag Science. Existing investor Spark Capital and new investors Stage1 Ventures and Alkaline Partners also participated in the round.
The funds will support the company’s mission to grow food anywhere using its modular container-based vertical farming solutions, and increase hiring across key departments including customer experience, engineering, and sales and marketing.
The company currently offers its farms for independent purchase and ownership and has customers including small business owners, corporate, hospitality, and retail across 39 countries. The company also reported that its revenue had grown by 13x since its last funding round due to growing container farm sales and other revenue channels including its farm automation software “farmhand”.
