Plastic Energy, a UK-based company offering plastic recycling solutions, announced that it has signed a head of agreement (HOA) with SK Geo Centric, a Seoul-based company that manufactures and distributes petrochemical products, to build a pyrolysis plant in Ulsan, South Korea.
The plant will be developed at SK Geo Centric’s Recycle Cluster in Ulsan and will use Plastic Energy’s patented technology to jointly build Asia's largest pyrolysis plant with a capacity of processing 66,000 tons of plastic waste per year. The plant is expected to start construction in the second half of 2025, occupying an area of 13,000SQM. This project is considered a step toward expanding the pyrolysis business in Asia.
Analyst Quick Take: Earlier in the month, Plastic Energy also signed an MOU with INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe to build a plastic waste conversion plant in Germany. This is the latest of a series of partnerships forged by Plastic Energy for its global expansion. The company currently operates two pyrolysis plants in Seville, Spain.
