Matter Labs raises USD 200 million in Series C funding; announcing the move to open-source it's software

Funding

  • Matter Labs, developer of the zkSync scaling solution for Ethereum, raised USD 200 million in Series C funding co-led by Blockchain Capital and Dragonfly with participation from LightSpeed Venture Partners, Variant, and Andreessen Horowitz. Following this round, the company’s total funding stands at USD 458 million.

  • The company aims to utilize the fresh capital to support the launch of its zkSync V2 rollup network.

  • Matter Labs also pledged to submit its core software under an MIT Open-Source license by the end of 2022, allowing third parties to examine, use, and enhance zkSync's code.
