Climeworks, a Swiss direct air capture (DAC) startup, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Gulf Coast Sequestration (GCS), a carbon sequestration hub developer, to deploy the first DAC and carbon storage hub (DAC+S) on the Gulf Coast in Louisiana.
Under the partnership, the two companies will permanently remove one million tons of CO2 per annum from the atmosphere by 2030. Climeworks and GCS plan to scale up the carbon capture capacity to multi-million ton per annum in the future.
