Axiom Space, a Texas-based human space flight and space infrastructure provider, has signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade to advance the Hungarian to Orbit (HUNOR) astronaut program.
The new MoU builds on the previous partnership between the company and Hungary and is expected to further advance cooperation and joint developments between the two parties in addition to flying a Hungarian astronaut to the ISS
The 30-day-long mission will involve the testing of 12 devices and eight experiments which is expected to launch between the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 depending on access to the ISS. The Hungarian government has budgeted USD 100 million for this mission which would fund the training and preparation of the selected astronauts as well as the trip to ISS.
