GoodLeaf Farms, a Canadian hydroponic vertical farm operator, announced that it is on track to open a new indoor farm in Montreal, Canada by mid-2023.
The new farm will be 100,000 sq ft in size and is expected to produce 1.9 million pounds of microgreens and baby greens that will serve grocery stores and the hospitality sector in Quebec, with additional capacity to serve Atlantic Canada.
The construction of the farm is supported by a USD 7 million loan from the Government of Quebec and several smaller grants from various economic development agencies including the Développement économique de l'agglomération de Longueuil (DEL).
