Passive remote monitoring company Lumen raised USD 62 million in a Series B funding round led by Pitango Venture Capital, with participation from other investors. This brings the total funds raised to USD 72.3 million.
The new funds will be used towards research and development and growing the business.
Israel-based Lumen developed a vape-like handheld device with sensors to measure an individual’s carbon dioxide levels in their breath. The data gathered is connected to a mobile app to provide users with personalized recommendations on food, exercise, and sleep, thereby preventing diseases and improving their metabolic health. Further, the company claims it has gathered around two million measurements per month using the hardware device and plans to provide the product to users for USD 250.
