Swiss VR startup Loft Dynamics raised USD 20 million in a funding round from a group of US-based venture capital firms, including Craft Ventures, Sky Dayton, and Up Ventures. This brings the company’s total funding to USD 29.3 million. The company also announced its rebranding from VRM Switzerland to Loft Dynamics.
The proceeds will be used to expand into international markets, including the US.
Loft Dynamics develops VR simulation technology for helicopter pilots with realistic training scenarios such as night-time flying, proficiency checks, and system failures. It claims to be the first VR simulator authorized by a major aviation regulator and is used by Airbus Helicopters, Air Zermatt, and Colorado Highland Helicopters. The company aims to address the global pilot shortage and claims to be non-polluting, less expensive than traditional training methods, and one-tenth the size of a traditional simulator.
Analyst QuickTake : Loft Dynamics brings a new dimension to AR/VR training by focusing on pilots. VRAI, which offers a simulation training platform for high-hazard environments, raised funding in September 2022 and focuses on the defense, aerospace, and renewable energy industries. Moreover, XR-based solutions for healthcare are booming and mainly pertain to training and remote visualization related to surgeries, while training platforms for sports such as Hockey and Baseball are emerging.
