GoodLeaf Farms' raises CAD 150 million in funding to support national expansion

Geographic expansion
Funding

  • GoodLeaf Farms, a Canadian indoor vertical farming company raised CAD 150 million (~USD 110 million) in funding led by McCain Foods, with participation from Power Sustainable Lios (agri-food investor).

  • The new funding will support the company’s plans to expand across Canada, opening new farms in Calgary and the Montreal region in addition to its current 50,000-square-foot, a fully automated farm in Guelph. The national expansion will add to the more than 500 grocery stores and food service establishments in Ontario that already sell GoodLeaf products by creating up to 140 new employment (70 in each area).

  • The two farms are expected to add 200,000 sqft to their capacity and will be automated and supplied with cutting-edge technology. Each of the farms will generate about two million lbs of locally grown greens annually. The two farms are slated to start producing microgreens and baby greens in Q2 and Q3 of 2023.
