Square Roots (previously Square Roots Urban Growers), a hydroponic vertical farming startup, announced the opening of a new indoor farm in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, in partnership with food distributor, Gordon Food Service (GFS).
The Shepherdsville location is set to produce more than three million packages of herbs, salad mixes, and micro-greens annually with a minimum of 14 days extended shelf life and is free of pesticides and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). The company claims that the technology deployed at the new Shepherdsville site will result in a 30% increase in yields.
