Animoca Brands, the company behind the social metaverse platform "The Sandbox," has taken a majority stake in Pixelynx, a music metaverse gaming platform co-founded by Joel Zimmerman (Deadmau5). While the terms of the deal were not disclosed, the investment follows Pixelnyx’s seed funding round in December 2021 which was also led by Animoca Brands.
Pixelnyx is a music metaverse ecosystem that aims to enable artists to connect and engage with their fans via gaming experiences. The company’s offering includes ELYNXIR, a platform powered by Niantic Lightship AR technology that leverages AR and geolocation for users to discover games, music, artists, collectibles, and community-created content. ELYNXIR is expected to integrate with Animoca Brands' ecosystem.
Pixelnyx also offers LynxLabs, a new investment program to support next-gen music and entertainment companies by providing them with access to funding, artists, celebrities, token design, and technical support. LynxLabs’ past investments include Volta XR and Oorbit.
