Vertical Future, a UK-based vertical farming technology and R&D company, partnered with Vertical Farm Systems (VFS), a subsidiary of HSL dedicated to working on the Singapore Advanced Vertical Farming (SAVE) project.
The project, jointly funded by Enterprise Singapore (ESG) and Innovate UK, aims to cut down on the energy and water required for crop production and the reliance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. The project's use of air-cooling and water recycling technology expects to cut production costs by up to 30%.
Furthermore, the project will contribute to Singapore's government's "30 by 30" initiative, which aims to produce 30% of the food consumed domestically in Singapore. The project will be tested on two farms in London and Singapore with full-sized spinach, pak choi, bayum, basil, coriander, and shiso among the target crops.
