Planet Farms secures a EUR 17.5 million loan

Funding

  • Planet Farms obtained a EUR 17.5 million (~USD 18.7 million) loan from UniCredit, assisted by SACE's Green Guarantee, for constructing their new farm dedicated to indoor hydroponic vegetable cultivation, beginning with baby leaf and basil salads in Cirimido, Como Province, Italy.

  • The company claims that this farm would be substantially larger than Cavenago, enabling Planet Farms to significantly increase its production capacity and explore new opportunities for vertical farming and increasingly efficient production methods, such as energy efficiency.

  • Planet Farms, a Milan-based company founded in 2018, has vertical farms of over 9,000 sqm and produces salad greens and aromatic herbs, while using less water and soil than conventional crops, and without pesticides. Planet Farms' leafy salads can be found in the major Italian distribution chains Esselunga, Il Viaggiator Goloso, and Iper La Grande I.
