Oxbotica, a UK-based developer of self-driving software for vehicles, has raised USD 140 million in a Series C funding round, bringing the total funds raised to USD 225 million to date. New participating investors include Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance, venture capital arms of Trimble and Eneos; while existing investors include BGF, Halma, Hostplus, Kiko Ventures (IP Group), Ocado Group, Tencent, Venture Science, and ZF took part in the round. The company anticipates additional investors before the final closing of the round in the upcoming months.
The company intends to utilize the funds to accelerate commercial deployments.
Oxbotica revealed that autonomous vehicles powered by its software will enter the market this year starting in the energy, agriculture, and private truck yard sectors, planning to enter the fixed-route passenger shuttle market in 2024. The company also plans to start testing on limited routes for UK-based online grocer Ocado in 2025, once a regulatory framework is in place.
