PreAct Technologies acquires gesture recognition software company, Gestoos

M&A

  • PreAct Technologies (PreAct), a developer of LiDAR sensors and safety and driving assist tools, has entered into an agreement to acquire Spanish AI/ML-based gesture recognition software company, Gestoos.

  • The company believes the acquisition would complement its sensor solutions and facilitate passive detection of pets/children, drowsy or distracted driving, smoking and violence from riders in robotaxis and other ride-hailing vehicles. Gestoos’ software can also be used to recognize gestures when answering calls, controlling media, or bookmarking locations.

  • Upon acquisition, PreAct will retain Gestoos’ business model which involves offering its software as a cloud-based platform that can be licensed for machine vision tasks. However, PreAct will also develop an embedded version that runs directly on the sensor that can be easily applied to different use cases.
