LettUs Grow, an aeroponic container farming company, collaborated with a research team at the University of York, along with Vertically Urban, a company providing LED lighting solutions for horticulture. The collaboration, which is headed by Professor Katherine Denby from the Centre for Novel Agricultural Products (CNAP), aims to boost the research capabilities of a vertical farm in York, known as Grow it York.
The facility features Vertically Urban's Horti-Blade grow lights and an upgraded version of LettUs Grow's Ostara farm management software with the primary goal of guiding the development and implementation of LED lighting in vertical farms to improve food systems for people's health, the environment, and the economy.
Grow it York arose from the FixOurFood program, a collaborative research effort by the University of York to transform local food networks and create regenerative systems for sustainable food production, retail, and consumption.
Analyst QuickTake: In June 2022, LettUs Grow announced a partnership with Vertically Urban to incorporate their ultra-slim Horti-Blade LED light into LettUs Grow's DROP & GROW container farms. Collaborating with Grow it York is expected to strengthen the relationship between Vertically Urban and LettUs Grow.
