Bayer Crop Science, a multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, has acquired Combyne Ag (formerly FarmLead), a crop marketing app based in Canada, for an undisclosed amount. Combyne Ag will remain independent of Bayer's operations following the acquisition.
Further, Combyne Ag currently has no formal plans or timelines for integrating Combyne into Bayer's Climate FieldView platform (a digital farming platform combining data from precision equipment). According to Combyne Ag, most of its fully-remote workforce will remain in Ontario and Alberta, with new hires expected across Canada and even more in the US. The company expects to announce new offerings—including a premium subscription service—in the coming weeks.
